ฤดูร้อนที่ผ่านมานี้ ทางภัทราวดีเธียเตอร์ ได้มีกลุ่มนักศึกษาจากมหาวิทยาลัยนิวยอร์ก ภาควิชาละคร เข้าร่วมในโครงการ ค่ายบางกอก อาร์ทิส อินเทนซีฟ ที่จัดขึ้นที่ภัทราดีเธียเตอร์ นักศึกษาหลายคนได้รับประสบการณ์ความเป็นเอเชียครั้งแรกในชีวิต และยังได้ประสบการณ์เกี่ยวกับศิลปะไทย อีกด้วย
The theatre has quite an eventful summer!
We have students from New York University’s theatre department to come to join the Bangkok Artist Intensive camp that held at Patravadi Theatre. It was the first Asian experience to a lot of them, and the first experience of Thai arts too. This is the third year that the event chose Patravadi Theatre as the camp venue. The theatre also helped in coordinating the teachers for Thai classical dance, khon, drum and muaythai.

Japan Contemporary Dance Network brings innovative dance to Bangkok dance lovers at Patravadi Theatre
Four of the most innovative groups of Japanese dance artists, joined by renowned Thai dancer Pichet Klunchun, will hop onto the stage of Bangkok’s Patravadi Theatre on 17 August to present their unique dance performances in “We’re Gonna Go Dancing!!”, a dance touring project brought by Japan Contemporary Dance Network (JCDN).
Recent Moves
Manop’s Meejamrat (P’Nai) art centre in Ratchburi Suan Silp Baan Din was formally opened on 28 June. On that day, honorary guests, friends, students and members of the community were there to celebarte the occasion. Will make a gallery for the opening and Baan Din!
My first visit there, it was a very short trip about only 80 mins — so actually you can make a day trip to take part in the Sunday activities there. The homestay service has some nice clay huts with semi-open bathroom. It will be a nice place to spend a night or two either if you want to have some arts activities, or make trips to the neighbouring interesting areas, such as the water community Ampawa.
P’Nai’s arts centre has already made use of the local resources to produce it own product — virgin coconut oil that come in different sizes and nice packaging. As someone from Hong Kong without close contact with nature, I used to think that coconut oil is just for sun tanning. P’Nai told me it can also be used for cooking (of course!), massage, and even for the care of wooden floor… quite a multi-purpose natural product!
Moving Arts Season 2 Starts this this week (6 July 2007)
The second season of Moving Arts will start this week. In the coming 11 weeks, we will have a feast of viewing award- winning short films from Thai Short FIlm & Video Festival in the past ten years, as well as award-winning works of the up coming year.

A multi-talented artist who achieved national status, Manop Meejamrat will tap into his extensive training in jazz dance, ballet, modern dance, Thai classical dance, khon (Thai Mask Dance), martial arts and acrobatics to deliver a workshop that build participants’ movement techniques based on the concept of improvisation.

Opening of Community Arts Centre in Rachaburi
Manop will busy himself with a number of new developments in coming months. Apart from his new interest in yoga, his new arts centre in Rachaburi – Suan-Silp Baan Din , funded by Patravadi Theatre – will also open in late June,
A community arts centre which proposes projects for community development by the use of arts, Suan-Silp Baan Din is in itself an idyllic art space with charming cottages, rice fields and bamboo bridges. The centre has already launched folk art projects sponsored by Rachaburi provincial government which climaxed in a parade in Rachaburi Floral Exhibition in April 2007, and will run Sunday arts activities sponsored by the Thai Ministry of Culture.
